Okay, so I know I promised a review of Jackfruit in a review post a while back. I'm still working on that. I've tried two of the four flavours, and want to try a third before I post the review. Sorry it's taking longer than planned. :-(
Meanwhile, I wanted to talk about samples I've gotten to try. I'll start with the Exactly box. All this came in ONE box!
Aussie Mega hairspray
Forto Coffee 2x energy shot
Tcho
Whoosh screen shine wipe
Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time tea
Cascade Platinum dishwasher pack
Early Bird Books
The site also says I was sent a few things that weren't in the box. A card for Ting Mobile, a discount for ThirdLove (lingerie), and Now & Later Shell Shocked Fruit Chews.
I used this on my bangs (the rest was pulled back anyway) during a windy and humid day. Usually, the humidity will have my hair frizz and curl in various directions. And the wind always messes with my bangs. Well, Aussie kept the frizziness and curling away. And the wind didn't overly dishevel my bangs, Aussie DID keep them from becoming a windswept mess without stiffness (so it's not like you'd have "helmet head"). Plus, it smells nice. A win.
Forto Coffee 2x energy shot (Mocha flavour)
Tastes of a bitter coffee. Notes of chocolate, but subtle. Sweet, but not overly so. Maybe it's because I'm a pretty heavy coffee drinker, but I only felt a slight boost from this.
Tcho
I LOVE the dark chocolate. So rich and chocolate-y, with only a subtle and pleasant bitterness. However, their "Mokaccino" isn't for me. It was a bit too bitter, and too strongly coffee-flavoured (this said from a coffee fiend!).
Whoosh screen shine wipe
I like that it's eco-friendly and non-toxic, that it's antimicrobial, and safe for all devices. I used it on my cell phone, which had gotten dirtier and more smudged than usual from extra use. I expected the wipe to be more moist (not wet, but not as dry as it was). However, it cleaned beautifully! No streaks, no smudges, no dust, etc. However....their site says "Our proprietary formula leaves a nano-thin, anti-static, invisble coating that repels and resits dust, smudges, oils and fingerprints.". I only unlocked it three times and the screen was smudged and had finger marks almost like I hadn't cleaned it. Basically, it works perfectly for cleaning, but don't expect it to resist.
Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time tea
Will this tea put you to sleep? No, it's not a sedative. Will it calm and relax you? Yes, a bit. Most importantly, it tastes delicious (the blend of chamomile, spearmint, lemongrass, and various flowers blend very well!). It also is slightly soothing if you have an upset stomach. Be cautious if you have allergies! People sensitive to ragweed should never consume chamomile (thankfully, that's one of the few things I'm NOT allergic to, lmao).
Cascade Platinum Actionpacs dishwasher detergent
Unfortunately, I can't review this one, as I do not have a dishwasher.
Early Bird Books
The code is to be used on a site called openroadmedia. The selection is pretty terrible (this coming from a bibliophile)! Every search I made turned up few-to-no results. And then you get an email sent with further instructions, which tells you that you need their "reader app that's available for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets." (you cannot read the ebooks on a laptop). I do not recommend, as this was not made clear on either earlybirdbooks OR openroadmedia. Additionally, openroadmedia's messages don't have an "unsubscribe" option...good thing I used a filter email.
And to wrap up this post, I want to talk about the Seventh Generation Free & Clear laundry detergent packs
I got from Generation Good. I put one in my washer before adding (lightly soiled) laundry, as per the instructions. Washed the clothes on quick wash (I only do full wash for heavily soiled laundry, towels, and bedding). The clothes came out LOOKING clean, and I was relieved to see that there wasn't detergent residue all over the clothes it had been under. However, there was faint body odor that fabric softener didn't quite cover up! I'm scared to see how they'd do on heavily soiled clothing, or clothing with a strong odor (like smoke, for example). Maybe I should've tried two packs for lightly soiled...! I also used one pack to wash sheets and pillow cases. It was one set. I used the full wash on hot, as I usually do. I was very worried, as I ran out of fabric softener (which is definitely needed when you're line-drying clothing indoors!). But the sheets came out smelling fresh and clean. Was the secret hot water? Or a longer wash cycle? Either way, it wouldn't be feasible to do EVERY load that way.
Well, that's it. Until next time....
