Of the Valentia products I've been able to try, the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014PJLKJ6) is one of my favourites...right up there with their True Glow Eye Cream.
As I expected from a clay-based mask, it was greyish. Of course, because of the natural fibres and such, it did have flecks of colour. Still, it wasn't anywhere near as off-putting as the last mask I tried. lol. I also noticed the scent when I did the allergy test. It's a beautiful aroma, though a bit strong for me (remember, I tend to be sensitive to some smells. So it's probably perfect for most of you).
As always, I used this product every evening (normally I'd use a mask once a WEEK, if that). I didn't follow it with any other products, though I did moisturize on some of the following days...unlike with prior product tests.
So, the day after the spot test, I went for it. I applied the mask all over my face and neck (except the eye area and lips). It stung quite a bit, especially for the first couple minutes. Then I felt it drying, and my face was very stiff. I let it dry for 20 minutes, then (as instructed on the package) used a warm wet cloth and circular motions to remove it. I could definitely feel it exfoliating!
My skin was left feeling very tight. But it was smooth to the touch.
After the first application, I noticed a lot of really huge blackheads on my nose. I was a bit shocked by this. After the second application, I saw that these same blackheads were half the size of the day before. And the third application? Completely clear!!! I hadn't realized just how blocked the pores in my nose were, until this mask drew it all out. I usually always have at least one pimple (rarely more than 3). But during this trial, those I had cleared up quickly and no new ones formed.
The smile lines, as well as the "text neck" lines I've been noticing lately, were less noticeable too. I'm guessing this is in large part due to the exfoliation (though the CoQ10 is also supposed to reduce wrinkles).
The tone of my skin was more even. And the redness I get during cooler months (which tends to intensify around the changing of seasons) cleared up entirely. Is this due to the mask? To the more warm temps? Or both? I'm inclined to think both played a part.
In all, the Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask would make a very helpful addition to your skincare routine. Especially if you have acne or blackhead issues.
