I'm very honored to be chosen to try yet another product by Valentia. This time, it was the Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AHWTME0).
It claims to:
"Renew texture & tone"
"Deeply moisturize"
"Minimize fine lines"
"Increase elasticity"
"Brighten & correct"
I've tried it for about a week, so obviously I can only give relatively short-term results. Still, I'm pretty impressed overall. I again used it by itself, even though they suggest using it with moisturizer and/or eye product of choice. I did this so I could get a better feel for how it works.
As with almost all of the Valentia products I've tried so far, I like the scent. Though this time it's a bit stronger than I'd like (still, tolerable. And most people would probably find it perfect). It smells very much like oranges...which isn't too surprising, given that the first ingredient is "Citrus Aurantium (Orange Hydrosol)". So, if you like the smell of oranges, you'll love this product's aroma.
I found that it took two pumps of product to apply to my face and neck, which seems to be about normal for most serums (I'm still learning here). I did so before bed.
It absorbs quickly. I noticed a slight stinging for about half a minute, but then that was gone. My skin was left feeling slightly "silky". The appearance of my pores was very much reduced, and fine lines were nearly gone. Right away, I was reminded of the effects of a primer I'd tried once (the brand escapes me, sorry. It was just a one-use sample). Smoother skin, less visibility of pores and fine lines.
Upon waking the first day, I looked right into the mirror (something I never do, as I wouldn't want to scare myself awake! lol). I was surprised to see that the pores were still less noticeable than they had been, though the effect was less pronounced than when I'd applied it. The fine lines similarly were less apparent.
Over the next few hours, the effects seemed to wear off. Still, Rome wasn't built in a day. So, I pressed on.
Over the next few days, I noticed that my skin tone was evening out quite a bit. And even without moisturizer, I didn't develop any rough dry patches (especially surprising considering the chaotic changing of the weather this spring). The pore-reducing, fine line minimizing did seem to last a tiny bit longer as the days went by. Was my skin "brighter"? Perhaps a tiny bit. Again, it's hard to say what long-term results I'll have.
So, my thoughts in a nutshell? The serum smells of oranges. It absorbs quickly, and has immediate effects on softness, fine lines, and the appearance of pore size (all lasting into the next day). But it does wear off by mid-day or so. Over time, the skin stays softer and more smooth than it would otherwise. Tone appears more even. And there may be a slight brightening. In other words, while not a miracle in a jar, it does what it does pretty well.
And Valentia products are Cruelty Free. They strive for "skin care that is natural, free of toxins and paraben-free. Natural ingredients with an organic base. . . ".
