In my eternal quest to find ways for my readers (and myself) to save money, I am always on the lookout for a deal. When a friend told me about the Wish App (also online at Wish.com), I was thrilled. Yes, the shipping takes a very long time, but the prices are unbeatable!
I signed up and started looking around. Earlier this month, I placed an order. Over $50 worth of stuff. I paid via PayPal, of course. Three days later, Wish canceled each item and refunded my money. Once I discovered this, I went to the site to find out why, and had to click a "support button" - Which told me that I need to submit a copy of my bank statement!
I contacted Wish and told them what happened, and that I had paid via PayPal just DAYS prior (even if it DID appear on a bank statement, it wouldn't be there yet!). I got a form letter back today, telling me that I need to send them a copy of my bank or credit card statement!
Now, it's possible they're a legitimate company. But this demand for financial documents completely unrelated to a transaction (that was fully paid at the time of order) is very sketchy. And the fact that "support" simply sends a form letter making the same demands gives me further pause. So, if you choose to do business with them, please be very cautious!
On a side note, if you haven't checked out my recent Thanksgiving post, please do!
Thanks for reading. Until next time....
