So, what did I think of the box? I loved the variety of products, ranging from sweet to savoury. I enjoyed some products more than others, of course. But I'm glad I got the chance to try things I've never had (in some cases, never heard of!). And not only was everything HEALTHY, but it was all Vegetarian-friendly.
Here are my thoughts on each item:
Lenny&Larry - The Complete KickStart (Banana Chocolate Chip): I got the Banana Chocolate Chip. You can tell this is healthy! It has a very dense texture, and is a bit gritty (but still pretty moist, considering). Only slightly sweet. Can taste the banana, but there's an under-taste that I can't quite idenfity. Could do with more chocolate chips, it has hardly any. Took the edge off my hunger. If I found them on sale, I might purchase them.
Zee Zee’s Sunflower Kernels: Tasty, crunchy, very snackable. Slightly saltier than I expected, but okay. I love that it's got plenty of protein and fibre in one little bag. And that the added oil was sunflower, instead of some other oil that might've changed how it tasted. Again, I'd buy these.
Oloves (Lemon and Rosemary): I love green olives, but was a bit hesitant about these. After all, lemon and rosemary olives? Still, I had heard good things about Oloves from my Case Manager. So I was excited to try these. Well, the Lemon and Rosemary Oloves are not something I hope to ever taste again. After I struggled to rip the bag open, I was assailed by a rather unpleasant smell. Bitter tasting initially, then lemony and bitter, and finally a weird oily pine (rosemary) taste. Gross. I tried a second one in case the first might've gone bad or something. Nope. The rest went in the trash. First product from this box I didn't care for. But I might try a different Oloves if I can find one that sounds appealing.
Whisps Cheese & Pretzel Bites (Cheddar "cheese crisps"): I got Cheddar cheese crisps. Some were broken, but they were mostly small rounds. Very crispy. Nice cheesy taste. Perfect snack. I love that the only ingredients was cheese. I'd DEFINITELY consider these if I see them in a store.
Kind Chewy Chocolate Chip: Definitely chewy, but there's a firmness thanks to the oats. Not overly sweet, just enough to satisfy a slight sweet tooth. Good balance of oat and chocolate taste. I might buy these, depending on price. But there are plenty of good granola bars that are more affordable.
Bcuz Snacks Strawberry Mallow Granola Bites: Not sure it was supposed to be, but it came out as one big clump. One mini marshmallow & one more bit of one. It was pleasantly chewy, and definitely "oaty". There was just a hint of strawberry, I was expecting more. Subtle aftertaste that I can't name. As a Vegetarian, I love that the marshmallows are gelatine-free! Another that I'd consider buying, depending on price.
Skinny Pop Popcorn: A bit bland, could use a smidge more salt. Slight funny taste (maybe it's because I'm not used to sunflower oil on popcorn). Not greasy like some bagged popcorn I've had. As crunchy as popcorn ought to be. And no unpopped kernels. A decent snack while watching a horror movie. Again, if the price were right, I'd buy them.
Michel & Augustin Cookie Squares: I had my brother try this, because of the hazelnuts (I react to them, but surprisingly no other tree nuts). He said it smelled of cheap fudge, but was unexpectedly good. It has a smooth, chocolatey taste with just a hint of hazelnut. And a pleasant aftertaste. It had "a delicious cookie crunch". Overall, he was surprised at how good it was. I'd consider a different one, as long as it didn't have any ingredients I was allergic to.
In conclusion: I overall enjoyed the box. And am glad I was chosen to receive another. I definitely suggest you sign up on their site, apply daily, and interact with their social media (listed on the site).
Still working on the unsolicited review that I've been promising for a while. I seem to've lost some of my notes, so I might have to cut out some things I'd planned on adding.
Until next time.....
